Cold front on the way

Captain Sam's
The slowdown continued into today, with just 23 new birds banded and 22 recaptures, of 10 species. Yellow-rumped Warblers continue to be the majority of our new birds, as expected, at 56% today. These slow days are not that unusual for this late in the migratory season, but we are still looking hopefully forward to a cold front this weekend.

Little Bear

Yet another very slow morning out at Little Bear, aside from a few flocks of Yellow-rumped warblers most of our net runs came up empty. Although today was yet another slow day we still did better than yesterday. We had more new birds today than we had total birds yesterday, with 27 new birds and 8 recaptures we caught 6 different species today.
