CAPTAIN SAMS
91 birds of 22 species were processed this morning at Captain Sam's. In addition to our first of season White-throated Sparrow and Eastern White-crowned Sparrow, we also banded Captain Sam's first ever Red-bellied Woodpecker. He was a handsome hatch year male who made his way into net 23 near the end of our banding session.

LITTLE BEAR
Today at Little Bear we had 31 new birds and 2 recaps of a total of 17 species. Unfortunately, we didn't see as many migrants or yellow-rumped warblers as Captain Sam's this morning. However, we did catch our first Yellow-bellied Sapsucker of the season, and there was good sparrow diversity with Song, White-crowned, Swamp, and Eastern Towhee all accounted for. While we didn't capture a White-throated Sparrow today, we could hear one calling from nearby so fingers crossed it will find our nets tomorrow.
