Making up for rain days

Captain Sam's
For the second day in a row we have had a very busy day out at Captain Sam's. With 238 new birds banded and 7 recaptures we had a total of 27 species. Six of those species were new for the season, we had several Eastern Phoebes, a Marsh Wren, a Gray-cheeked Thrush, a Swamp Sparrow, a Yellow-billed Cuckoo, and lastly a very late Swainson's Warbler. Today was a great day for diversity and very exciting with all the new species we were able to bring in. Despite such high numbers, after yesterdays numbers today felt easy! After all the rain and flooding this weekend it was nice being able to see the sun today, especially since our site desperately needs to dry out. Hopefully these numbers will continue through to the weekend while we wait for Little Bear to open back up again.
