Today was a slow windy morning. We didn't catch many birds but we did get to see 36 White Pelican fly by, which is a lifer bird for me! Before we closed all of our nets we did have a flock of Tree Swallows dive in for some wax myrtle berries. They were teasing us by eating from a tree close to the nets but we got lucky that they decided to change their mind and go for one near our nets.
I would like to thank Aaron for all the work he does to run the KIBS banding station. I learned so much and got to see so many different birds. It was a great season and I had a blast working with everyone and loved meeting new people.

LITTLE BEAR
It was our last day of banding today at Little Bear and we packed up the site. I can't say we went out with a bang today, only catching 5 new birds and 3 recaptures. However, for the season overall Little Bear did awesome in terms of catching exciting (and unexpected) species. It was the site to catch the Kirtland's Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, Morning Warbler, Pine Warbler and Blackburnian Warbler - all species only caught once this season - among others.
Spending a few months working for KIBS and living in Kiawah has been an amazing time and I am sad to leave. Throughout the season I have seen so many new species in the hand (even some lifers!) and learned a great deal about aging by molt limits and identification tips for eastern species. Thanks to my whole team, especially Aaron, for a memorable and fun season!
