Captain Sams:
Today was another slow day with a total of 25 new birds and 10 recaptures. The Catbirds are still hanging around and today we had 9 new ones and 8 recaptures. We will frequently recapture Catbirds that were already processed the day of, so many of the birds we extract from the net will be released right away. They have a tendency to jump right back into the nets. A few special warblers still crossed our path, such as a Pine Warbler, and a Prairie Warbler. We also got a couple of House Finches and Swamp Sparrows.

Little Bear:
Today was about the same as yesterday with a total of 53 birds. We are still capturing a decent amount of Catbirds but our highlight was still capturing a new Blackpoll Warbler and a Tennessee Warbler. We slowed down after the first few runs and just enjoyed the steady pace. These next few days seem to be just as slow and with a little more breeze out at Little Bear. I am hoping we still see a good amount of birds and maybe a few more different warblers.
Later in the evening we attempted more marsh sparrow banding and captured some great species. We captured Clapper Rails, Seaside Sparrows, Saltmarsh Sparrow and Marsh Wrens. It was fun working as a team catching birds and also chasing them!
