FOS: Nashville Warbler!

We had another great day of banding with 106 new birds and 25 recaptures of 20 different species.  Highlights of the day included a first of the season Nashville Warbler and an adult male Cape May Warbler.  Another interesting bird caught today was a recaptured Gray Catbird that was originally banded at KIBS last fall on 10/08/12.  There are no subsequent recaptures of this bird indicating that it may just be passing through again on it way to more southerly latitudes.  Gray Catbirds that end up spending the winter at KIBS usually get recaptured over and over again.  They also tend to be birds that arrive a little later in the season.

I have also updated yesterday's post to include the photo of the Philadelphia Vireo.

Nashville Warbler (HY, male)

The crown patch of this individual was partial concealed with only a few of the reddish based feathers showing through.
