Captain Sam's
We had a fairly good morning at Captain Sam’s with 42 new birds and 8 recaptures, comprised of 18 species.  A steady stream of Common Yellowthroats and Red-eyed Vireos kept us occupied throughout the morning.   Today we captured our first Yellow-bellied Flycatcher and our third Acadian Flycatcher of the season.  We are now just waiting on a Least Flycatcher to round out the eastern Empidonax flycatchers.

Little Bear
It was a pretty good morning out at Little Bear with 30 new birds and 1 recapture of 13 species. We caught a good bit of birds on the first couple of net rounds but like yesterday, it slowed down as the morning went on. We are starting to see many more Common Yellowthroats migrate through as well and expect to see that trend continue upward. We also had a first-of-the season Veery. This species nests in the deciduous woodlands of northern North America and migrates to central and southern Brazil for the winter.
