Captain Sam's
We avoided the rain but had a slower morning with 8 new birds and 9 recaptures of 8 different species. The southeast winds and the storm that is moving inland is preventing a lot of birds from moving along the coast. This means we are stuck in this pattern until the winds shift, which may occur by the weekend. There is a chance for rain in the morning but hopefully it is not too much of a problem out at the spit.

Little Bear

A rain shower greeted us this morning just in time for the first net run. We started the morning out soaked but dried out quickly. Today broke yesterdays record of the slowest day of the season. We captured 7 new birds and 3 recaptures, making a total of 10 birds, with a diversity of 8 species. The tide has flooded the majority of net lanes, bringing more wading birds into the area. We have hopes of  incidentally capturing wading birds this season.
