Another chilly day brought flocks of swallows and Myrtle Warblers to Captain Sam's. We also recaptured our western vagrant friend, the Ash-throated Flycatcher banded yesterday. A few of the Myrtle Warblers caught today were banded in previous years and it's always fun to see older birds returning to the site, Unfortunately, none of the swallows made their way into the nets but we had some very close calls. The next few days aren't looking great for banding, but Saturday is the last day for us banding assistants so we're hoping to get a break in the weather and capture species 102!

Little Bear:
Well, today is the day. Little Bear is shut down for the season! we ended up with a great amount of birds including some great species! I would say the highlight of the season was having everyone get the chance to be out at LB and experience the different habitat that it provides than CS. It was a great run, and I hope next year can beat our totals!
So, this will be our last post on LB but we will still be adding CS news till the end of November! So, do not leave too soon! I am hoping we can get some banding in the next 2 days before the rest of the KIBS crew leaves for the season. Stay tune for more updates! Keep your fingers and toes crossed!
