Extremely Slow Day

It was extremely slow this morning with only 7 new birds and 2 recaptures of 4 different species.  Due to increasingly windy conditions (and the lack of bird life) we closed nets down early.    Conditions were favorable locally for migration last night but there were no birds to replace them this morning.

  1. Hi Aaron,

I am banding downstream from you near Miami at the Cape Florida Banding Station. I am familiar with you and your station from North American Bird Bander. We have been mistnetting at our location since 2002 but this is the first season we have had a website: http://capefloridabandingstation.wordpress.com/

We'll be following you since you are upstream; we could even recapture one of your birds someday! Your nice push of migrants from Aug 24 just got to us today. It is interesting what we haven't caught yet compared to your site: no Red-eyed vireos or Common yellowthroats but plenty of redstarts, black & whites and Swainson's warblers. Hope y'all have a great season!
