FOS Mourning Dove

We banded 14 new birds and had 8 recaptures of 9 different species this morning.  We banded our first Mourning Dove of the season!  Mourning Doves are large birds and don't get captured too often at KIBS as our nets are designed for smaller species.  Many a times I have come up to a net with a Mourning Dove in it and as I approach to remove it, the bird flaps its powerful wings and pops out of the net.  This probably happens quite a bit too when nobody is there to see it.
