Based off of the radar images from last night I would have bet big on a good day today but a northeast wind prevented a repeat of yesterday's large numbers. We ended the day with a respectable 69 new birds and 8 recaptures of 13 different species. Gray Catbird numbers are slowly creeping up and I predict with the passing of the next cold front the flood gates will open and we will be up to our eyeballs in catbirds.
I am keeping a close eye on Hurricane Matthew. The current models have it skirting the coast of South Carolina however it is still too far out to be confident of any track that it might take. No matter what track it decides to follow, it will affect us probably starting around Thursday with increasing winds.

LITTLE BEAR
Little Bear had about the same number of birds as Captain Sam's, with 69 news birds and 13 recaptures of 20 different species. Although the morning started out at a relatively cool 71 degrees, the total lack of cloud cover caused temperatures to rise quickly and we had to shut down for the day by 11:15.
