Captain Sam's

Today was a very disappointing day for Captain Sam's. Our bobcat that we collard earlier this season was out at the station and forced us to close our nets very early this morning. Our first net run turned out to be pretty productive in numbers and diversity (not just yellow-rumps), but due to the predator in the area we were not able to continue banding. It would have been very interesting to see what all we would have captured after the first net run.

Little Bear

It was a slow morning out at Little Bear with 34 new birds and 13 recaptures of 13 different species. The highlights of the morning included another Common Ground-Dove and White-crowned Sparrow. We also caught two birds that were banded last year at Little Bear. One was a Song Sparrow banded November 17, 2016 and the other was a House Wren banded October 24, 2016. We expect to see more banded birds returning from previous years as November progresses.
