CAPTAIN SAMS
We captured 33 new birds and had 30 recaptures of 8 different species. The day started off slow but picked up later in the morning as more Yellow-rumped Warblers moved onto the spit. It was nice to get a break from the high tides, and we should be free from the tides until the end of the season. We also heard 3-4 Sedge Wrens hanging around the site so hopefully one finds our nets soon. There is a cold front moving through tonight with a lot of rain, so we may not be able to band tomorrow morning. We are expecting cold temperatures for the the rest of the week, which hopefully provide us with one last push of wintering birds.
