22 September 2016

CAPTAIN SAM'S
Bird activity slowed a little bit from the previous two days with 62 new birds and 16 recaptures of 15 different species.  We banded our first-of-the-season Yellow-billed Cuckoo, one day after Little Bear banded their first-of-the-season.  There seems to be a pattern emerging here.  For several species so far this season, Little Bear appears to be one or two days ahead of Captain Sam's.

LITTLE BEAR
Compared to last few days, today was a relatively slow day at Little Bear with 62 new birds, 26 recaptures and 20 different species. Common Yellow-throats again made up the majority of our catch.  Little Bear also Banded its first Black-throated Green Warbler for the season. If the pattern Aaron mentioned above holds true, Captain Sam's should see a Black-thoated Green Warbler show up in their nets soon.
