Captain Sam's

It was a pretty slow morning out at Captain Sam's with only 52 total birds captured. Like Little Bear a few days ago, we had more recaptures than new birds, with 22 new birds and 30 recaptures. We did have 11 recaptures that were banded in previous years. This included a Gray Catbird, a Swamp Sparrow, 8 Yellow-rumped Warblers, and a Hermit Thrush that was banded in 2012 that we've been catching over the past week. We also had a surprise near one of our nets as we came across a Corn Snake eating a rat!

Little Bear
Today was a lot busier than yesterday with 63 new birds, 24 recaptures with 12 species. We got as many species today as birds yesterday and about as many birds today as the last few days combined. We had one net run with 33 Yellow-rumped Warblers! Hopefully we will start to pick up as we head into the weekend.
