FOS: Palm Warbler

Captain Sam's
It was not a bad morning at Captain Sam's with 45 new birds and 4 recaptures of 14 species. We were hoping for it to be a little busier but we'll take it since we'll not be banding for the next few days. The only unique bird we caught was the Swainson's Warbler we banded yesterday. After banding, we took down the banding station at Captain Sam's to prepare for whatever weather Hurricane Irma brings us. Hopefully we are able to set back up by the middle of next week!

Little Bear

It was a little less exciting at Little Bear today with 30 new birds and 9 recaptures, representing 14 species.  Although we didn’t have any record birds today, we did have two first of the season including a Northern Parula and a Palm Warbler.  The wind picked up as the morning progressed and we end up closing a little early.  In preparation of Hurricane Irma, the banding station has been taken down and will be closed for the next few days.
