Captain Slammed and Little Birds

Captain Sam's:

Lucky for us, we had another successful day today! With a total of 30 species, we captured a total of 240 birds! We have four new first of the season birds added to our list. Mourning Dove, Hermit Thrush, Savannah Sparrow, and Blue-headed Vireo! This great weather is bringing quite a bit of good birds for us. Below is two pictures of the four new birds of the season. The first photo is of the Blue-headed Vireo and the second is the Savannah Sparrow.
Hopefully this tropical storm that's brewing for tomorrow holds off until later in the day so we can catch some more birds!

Little Bear:

We must not be Irish enough as Capitain O'Sammys, because luck was not on our side today. We experienced strong winds that forced us to close nets. We are also extremely flooded at the site and are expecting even worse water levels over the next week. Today would have been good for us had we not been bombarded with the big bad wolf huffing and puffing and blowing our nets down.

We ended the day with 55 new birds and 8 recaps, so not much compared to ol' Cap'n, but we had a Tennessee Warbler which is a fun little catch.

As well as a beautiful sunrise!
