Where did the Yellowthroats go?

Captain Sam's:

Yesterday at Captain Sam's we caught 35 Common Yellowthroats - today we caught just 1. Yesterday morning it was cool and crisp, and this morning it was back to being hot and humid. It's fascinating to see how quickly the birds around here change from day to day, with slight changes in the weather and wind. Where did the Yellowthroats go? Why was their stop-over on Kiawah Island so brief? Will there be more tomorrow, or none at all? Questions to ponder tomorrow, as we wait to see what flies into our nets.

Little Bear:

It was a quiet morning at Little Bear today- only 12 birds captured, all of common species. September can be a rollercoaster of weather and capture rates. After a little cool-off and some first-of-seasons the past couple days, it looks like we're in for a hot week without much bird migration to look forward to. But we'll keep our fingers crossed and hope for something surprising to get caught- maybe our second ever Belted Kingfisher or the first Bell's Vireo in nearly 5 years?
