Another Sunny Day

 Captain Sams:

Today we captured a total of 20 birds. We had 13 newly banded birds and 7 recaptures. We got our first of the season (FOS) Summer Tanager! I did not get a photo of the bird, but definitely heard the excitement of seeing this bird!
We are almost into our first week here at the station and it is exciting to see everyone eager to learn and seeing some of their first time birds in the hand. Even though we are not catching as many birds these past few days, this time gives us a little bit of a chance to understand molt limits on birds, to learn how to fix some nets and know our trails around the station. I am looking forward to a wonderful season this year! Can't wait to see what is in store for us.
