FOS: Eastern Screech-Owl

It was another typical August morning out at Captain Sam's with 15 new birds and 2 recaptures of 8 species. We opened the nets while it was still really dark and were rewarded with a red morph Eastern Screech-Owl! As I was heading to open the first net, this same (most likely) Eastern Screech-Owl flew out of a palm right beside me and made its way in the direction of the net I was heading to open. I rushed to open the nets close by and we were lucky enough to find it in one of those nets on the first net run! Also, this happens to be the same day we caught a red morph Eastern Screech-Owl last year.

We ended up heading to Little Bear today and setting up a few more nets and are hoping to start running the station by Tuesday!
