Painted Buntings Keep It Up

Despite being another slow day at Captain Sam's we had some good birds, the butterflies were abundant, and some flowers were blooming. We captured 8 species total, including 10 newly banded and 5 recaptured individuals. Hatch-year painted buntings have been plentiful, so it seems they had a successful breeding year. We caught another gorgeous Yellow Warbler and DanaĆ© got to band her first Blue-gray Gnatcatcher! The new crew is comfortable navigating the site now and we will start banding at Little Bear tomorrow.
