Looking at the radar
from last night led us to believe that we were in for another slow day. A storm system was once again sitting over
the North which seemed to be keeping migrants down but that was not the case
today. Catbirds and mixed flocks of
warblers kept us busy for most the day. We banded 68 new birds made up of 20
species half of which were warbler species. A highlight of the day was the capture of our first
of the season Orange-crowned Warbler.

Though the best bird
of day, hands down, was an adult Bay-breasted Warbler. This is the first banding record of a
Bay-breasted Warbler for KIBS!
