Captain Sams:
Today was quite the long one for the station! Based on the weather we were gifted, it would be hard to know we just had a hurricane just come through (aside from the debris on the road). It was bright and sunny, and BUSY! Today was likely our second best day of the season yet and the projected migration for today wasn't even that good. Today's banding success was likely brought on by the hurricane and birds being hunkered down from days prior. Our diversity was moderate with two exciting catches very early on - TWO Chuck-wills-widows. While opening nets today, I even saw two sitting on the tops of our net poles! After we took a lunch break after banding we headed down to the ocean course to set Little Bear back up in preparation for this week. We also managed to check the beach for any storm blown birds but no luck. Here's to a better uninterrupted week!
