CAPTAIN SAMS
We only banded 14 new birds and had 20 recaptures of 10 different species today. We some how recaptured the Sedge Wren that we banded almost three weeks ago. Sedge Wrens are so small that they do not get caught in our nets very often as they just fall right through the 30mm mesh square. We caught Captain Sams' first Savannah Sparrow of the fall today also. This individual was also a recapture and as it turned out, was banded 1,100 days ago on 14 November 2021. We captured this bird again on 28 November 2022 but did catch it last year.
