October 8, 2014

It was a fairly slow day at the banding station with only 30 new birds and 23 recaptures made up of 13 species.  The lack of birds gave Aaron an opportunity to create a few new net lanes.  Currently at KIBS, we run 20 mist nets located in a mainly scrub-shrub and high marsh habitat.  The three lanes created today are setup in wax myrtle along the edge of the dunes, a habitat not occupied by our other nets.  Having these new net locations may allow us to capture few different species that prefer the more open habitat of the dunes.
