Captain Sam's:
At Captain Sam's, we were rained on just after opening the nets. Despite our best efforts to move the storm clouds, they seemed to linger directly above our banding station and we had to close early. Before all of the rain, we caught a few of our old catbird friends but not much else. Hoping that the rain stays away from now on.

Little Bear:
Although the rain was our main concern as we headed out to Little Bear this morning, the wind ended up being more of a problem upon arriving. Its not unusual for the wind to blow stronger at the banding site than what's in the local forecast, but today was the first morning that it was a significant hindrance. The east end of the island was spared from the rain that shut down Captain Sams, but our capture rate remained very low. By 9am there were more showers from out over the ocean quickly approaching us, and we decided to close up and head home before things got any worse. We did manage to catch 8 different species this morning, despite only banding 7 birds. Highlights were recapturing a Downy Woodpecker that we banded back in August, along with a new Ovenbird, Cape May Warbler, and yet another Tufted Titmouse to add to our record setting season for that species.
