After the Rain, Another Slow Day

 Captain Sam's:

Today was quite a slow day. It started out very muggy but soon the sun made its way out making it super hot. After we closed up we worked on some net lane maintenance. We cleared some paths, where the vegetation was getting high and made up some more bridges to prepare for the high tides that usually comes in later in the season. I hope tomorrow will be a little busier and we start to see more birds!

-Kristin

Little Bear:

This morning we had a foggy, then overcast, morning at Little Bear, with a relatively low capture rate. We processed 21 birds, and it was nice to take our time enjoying some common species and exploring the various stages of molt (feather replacement) for each individual. We're hoping to see a little more migration happening tonight and our hopes are up for a slightly busier day, perhaps with a new species or two arriving to the island.
