Captain Sam's:
Today Captain Sam's got their first of the season Eastern Phoebe. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of this soft cutie. Overall it was a great day with 85 birds captured this morning. Out of those 85, 76 of those birds are newly banded birds. We are starting to finally catch fewer recaptured birds as well! I did manage to get a wonderful photo of this adult male Black-and-white Warbler! check him out below! Very stunning and handsome indeed!

Little Bear:
Little Bear's motif of purple-stained bird bags continued today, with Gray Catbirds making up over half (37) of our total number of captures (67). We were looking forward to having a busier day today, with the coastal storms that have plagued us all week somewhat clearing up last night. And while we did catch our highest number of birds since Sept 30th, species diversity was still fairly low for this time of year. We actually haven't caught any first of season species at Little Bear since our 110 bird day on the 30th, but we're keeping our fingers crossed for that to change this weekend.
