A Barrage of Reds, Whites, and Yellows

 Captain Sams:

As this is my first blog post of the season, my name is Matt, and I am a member of the 2023 KIBS Banding Crew. Overnight rain led to some mucky nets, but with soaked shoes and high spirits, our team captured some really cool birds today!

We had a total of 35 individuals, with 22 being new birds and 13 being recaptures. Among those new individuals were a Yellow Warbler, a Red-eyed Vireo, and two American Redstarts; all new species for the station this year.

This afternoon also marks the first day of working on getting Little Bear ready for the season, and we are all excited to see the other site for the first time!
