Captain Sam's:
Today was a sad morning because Katie and Brendan left for home this morning while we were out banding. We had our proper goodbyes over coffee early before leaving the house.
Today while slow and cold was exciting because the local news has decided to do a story on the banding station! We had a the camera crew and reporter out this morning! It was quite different than having other folks out observing at the station, despite other groups visiting this season to document the process of banding. Another sad part of the day was dropping off Maia off at the airport so she could make her way home. It's been so lovely to get to know everyone new this season while becoming closer with everyone who I've met before.
The next few days will be my last for this fall season for banding so I'm hoping it's nice! Aaron's going to be out of town for a few days so Kristen and I will be holding the fort down! Hopefully we get some neat birds, maybe even a first of season, but let's hope it's nothing to send Aaron on his way back to us sooner than planned! The winds look great for bringing northern species our way so I've got all my fingers crossed for a flyover of one of the winter finches!
