We got some warm weather again at the banding station. The tides are finally subsiding and so the water in the trails is beginning to go away. However we still have some areas where there is some deep water, lots of mud, some bad smells and a ton of Mosquitos. Today we did catch a Common Ground Dove which was exciting. Unfortunately the bird did have a bald patch and some missing tail and flight feathers in a way that made us believe that the dove might have escaped a predator.
These are the top five species that we have caught in the first five weeks.
1. Prairie Warbler 150
2. Common Yellowthroat 148
3. Painted Bunting 129
4. Northern Waterthrush 65
5. American Redstart 55
