Well we had a slight change of pace today with 196 new birds
banded. If you remember from yesterday,
we only had 8 new birds. A total 204
birds, including new and recaptures, made today the biggest day of the season
thus far. Yellow-rumped Warblers came
through in large flocks and by the end of the day we banded 180 individuals,
making up over 90 percent of the new birds banded today.

Between the waves of yellow-rumps, we had a few noteworthy
captures including two previous season returns.
The first was an Eastern Towhee that was originally banded on 10/28/2011
as an after hatch year making it at least 3 years old. The second was a Yellow-rumped Warbler that
was banded exactly a year ago today. We
also had our second House Finch of the season.
