Hello from the porch at the field house!
Some people already know that my favorite bird is the Common Loon.
But did you know that my favorite warbler is the Black and White Warbler? Its song is simple and sweet and unlike many of its bright yellow cohort, these little fluffers are cute bundles of striking black and white feathers. They're just beautiful aren't they?

We are hoping for a good push of new species tomorrow. We are keeping our eyes out for the first Swamp Sparrow, Yellow-rumped Warbler, or maybe something rare and exciting. Keep those fingers, toes, and eyes crossed for us!

Little Bear:
So basically, we out here catchin' birds day in and day out. All in all it's pretty nifty. Sometimes we get a real treat though. Kind of like we did today. Beth stumbled upon a Yellow-crowned Night-heron hanging out low in one of our nets! This was the second one ever for KIBS. The first one was also a hatch year and was caught back in 2016 at Little Bear.
We also caught our second Yellow-bellied Flycatcher of the season, which was a life bird for me. Then to top it all off we caught our first of the season Ruby-crowned Kinglet.
