Continued slow down...

Captain Sam's
The number of new birds banded has slowly decreased throughout the week since our record breaking day on Tuesday. Today, we banded 47 new birds and had 22 recaptures of 13 different species. Gray Catbirds took the day again with 38 new and 10 recaptures. We got another Ruby-crowned Kinglet, and they will start arriving in greater numbers as the season progresses since they winter here. Another exciting capture was a House Wren that was banded last year out at Captain Sam's, most likely a winter resident on the spit. It looks like another front will be coming in Saturday night into Sunday morning so we should return to high numbers Sunday into Monday! Also, we hope to get back out to Little Bear Sunday morning, just in time for the front.
