Thursday's Results: Field Sparrow

Finally, after 5 days of constant howling winds, we made it back out to the banding station!  Unfortunately, strong gusty winds forced us to shut down after only 2.5 hours of banding.  I sure hope this wind subsides soon!  It would have been a really good day of banding if the wind didn't shut us down.  Tomorrow is looking better wind-wise, but the morning temperature is going to be in the mid 40's.  We may have to delay opening the nets until the temperature increases slightly.     

 

We banded 35 new birds and had 6 recaptures of 14 different species today.  Highlights from today include a rather late Black-throated Blue Warbler, an Orange-crowned Warbler, and the first Field Sparrow of the season!
