Captain Sams:
Captain Sam's was not as busy today, but still productive with 87 birds total. Highlight of the day was our first-of-season Alder Flycatcher! Most of the Traill's Flycatcher we've been catching have been left as Traills', but this individual's measurements fit within the Alder Flycatcher bracket. We also had lots of Common Yellowthroats again and quite a few White-eyed Vireos as well. Hatch-year vireos have brown eyes, and as they get older they turn white. Below is an example of after hatch year versus hatch year eye-color differences.

Little Bear:
Today was another cooler day! We ended up with a total of 65 birds with only 11 of them being recaptured. No new birds for the day but we did catch our second Magnolia Warbler this season. With no alligators on site, we had all our nets open and it was nice and peaceful! Hopefully some more excitements are to come as the week comes to an end.
