Misty and Foggy Morning

CAPTAIN SAM'S

Today was a slow morning with only 21 newly banded birds and 9 recaptured birds. We did get a beautiful female Golden-crowned Kinglet and the most bird captured today was the Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle). Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

LITTLE BEAR

It was a very foggy and quiet morning out at Little Bear with a slight mist, which kept our nets pretty wet for most of the morning. With all of the rain, the site was flooded and we had to wade through about a foot of water to check nets. The site has usually been this flooded for most of the season but surprisingly, it has been completely dry this fall until today. We ended the morning with 19 new birds and 9 recaptures of 8 species. We had a couple recaptured Yellow-rumped Warblers that were banded in previous seasons, one in 2017 and the other in 2015. Tomorrow will be the last day for the Little Bear banding site, and we plan to pack up the site after banding. I have enjoyed running the site this season and will definitely miss it!
