Today was a more typical day for the start of the season with 26 total birds 19 of which were newly banded, leaving 7 as recaptures. Though it was a slower day we still had some decent variety of 10 different species. A species of note would be our 3rd of the season Worm-eating Warbler. With their capture numbers varying widely at KIBS from year to year we are already ahead of the 2 total captures at Captain Sam's last year. Though they do not have bright flashy colors these birds can still be appreciated for their clean look with various shades of olive and yellow, and black crown stripes and eye-line. Cryptic colors such as these make are useful for nesting on the ground and not being discovered by predators.
