CAPTAIN SAMS
It was a cooler morning, which brought in some new migrants to the station. The windy conditions kept the capture rate down but we still managed to capture 32 new birds and 11 recaptures of 10 different species. The highlight of the morning came on the first net run when we captured our second American Robin of the season. American Robins are common but they usually only roost on the spit then leave at sunrise to forage elsewhere, missing our nets on most days. Another cold front pushes through by the weekend, hopefully bringing us more late-season migrants before the end of the fall banding season.

LITTLE BEAR
Today was a slow windy day out at Little Bear. With a total of 19 birds captured, only 5 of them were recaptures. We did surprising have a better diversity than what we typically do. We had a total of 7 species. I think the highlight of the day was capturing 2 Hermit Thrushes. It has been a few days since we last captured any new Hermit Thrushes.
With the high winds, we observed a decent amount of birds flying around pretty low. It was fun to observed them but only to wish they found our nets. It seems like our last few days will be about the same. There is some rain coming in on Thursday, I am hoping it holds off until later in the day or just not show up, time will only tell.
