Popup Showers

Captain Sam's
We were only able to open Captain Sam's for 40 minutes this morning before it started to rain.  IN that time we only caught one bird - an after hatch-year female Yellow-rumped Warbler.

Little Bear

We were not able to stay open long this morning due a series of popup showers coming off the ocean.  In the short period of time that we were open, we banded 2 new birds, a Gray Catbird and Black-throated Green Warbler, and recaptured 1 Gray Catbird.  The Black-throated Green Warbler banded today is the third one to be banded this season at Little Bear.  The Gray Catbird recaptured today was from a previous season and was originally banded on October 14, 2016.  Overnight tonight and tomorrow, winds will be coming from the Northwest which will hopefully bring a push of migrants our way.
