Where's the Truck?

Captain Sam's

After some more vehicle trouble this morning, it was decided that everyone would go to Captain Sam's and Little Bear would remain closed for the day. With few birds captured today and a larger banding crew than usual at the site, everyone got to process at least one bird. The totals for the day were 5 new and 4 recaptures of 5 species. Being slow, we had to find other ways to entertain ourselves, including a bird guessing game and online quizzes. Thanks to our volunteer, Ryan, for keeping us laughing with his stories. Despite the heat, humidity, and very little breeze, we made it through the morning just fine. The cutest bird of the day goes to the recently fledged Painted Bunting, still retaining it's soft gape! The other highlight bird was a Brown Thrasher, a very fun bird to photograph.
