Today was a great day! The air was chilly but the birds were moving. We had a total of 55 newly banded birds and 17 recaptured birds. Our highlight of the day was catching 2 more American Robins during our first run. These birds are a rare catch in the nets and it's a delight to get to see them in the hand.
We did recaptured an older Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle) today that was banded on 11/6/2014 as an after-hatch year making this bird at least 6 years old! It is pretty cool to catch an older bird knowing that its still in good health.
As the days start dwindling down, we are hoping for the best each day!

LITTLE BEAR
It was a windy start out at Little Bear and we had to close most of our nets after the first net run. We were able to open them back up towards the end of the morning as the wind decreased. Even with the less than ideal conditions, we caught an American Robin and a Savannah Sparrow, both firsts for the Little Bear site this fall. We ended the day with 16 new birds and 4 recaptures of 12 different species.
