Flock of Yellow-rumps

CAPTAIN SAM'S

We had another decent day of banding out on the spit with 49 new birds and 19 recaptures of 10 different species.  Three-quarters of what we captured today were Yellow-rumped Warblers with many of them coming during the 2nd net run.  Large numbers of Yellow-rumps were moving along the dunes around 7:30am, and as a result net #28 had 18 of them in it when I walked up to it.  The flock appeared to continue down the dunes and leave the spit as we did not see large numbers of them the rest of the day.
