When we first arrived at the banding station this morning, we were greeted by our friend, the bobcat. As a result, we shortened our net run times and remained on high alert throughout most of the morning. We still managed to catch some great birds! My favorite bird of the day was a first-of-season Wilson's Warbler! Wilson's Warblers are uncommon visitors to the KIBS station.
We also caught a hatch year male Ruby-throated Hummingbird. He had a couple of flecks of ruby on his throat, and I think one looked like the shape of a heart.

Little Bear:
For the first time in a few days, the wind subsided at Little Bear and we were able to have all of our nets open. Despite the poor migration conditions overnight, we caught 27 birds of 12 species. We had two first of season species, both a little lackluster compared to the Wilson's Warbler over at Captain Sam's. But we were still excited to process our first House Wren of the fall, and to catch the elusive and charismatic Tufted Titmouse.
