It was a modest day at Captain Sam's today due to windy conditions. We processed a total of 37 birds, composed of 12 different species. An after hatch year, female Prothonotary Warbler brightened up our morning:

Little Bear:
When we arrived at Little Bear this morning, we were greeted by a strong gale and distant lightening flashes from out over the ocean. Far from optimism-inspiring conditions, but we tried our best to open a few nets and see what birds might be around. Turns out, not much. By our second net run we had captured 4 birds and were left with only 9 wind-strewn nets opened. Following a few bird-less net runs and no sign of the wind subsiding, we closed things down for the day. With strong wind speeds still in the forecast for the next couple of days, it may take some patience before we have another fruitful day of banding on yesterday's level.
