Captain Sam's:
Today was definitely a busier day than what we have had in a while. We are starting to see a nice movement of yellow-rump warblers starting to come in with this nice north western wind. Tonight is suppose to have another north western wind and I'm hoping for a new bird tomorrow. Our highlight of the day was capturing yet another saltmarsh sparrow, a recaptured pine warbler from a month ago and a northern parula. It was nice to see a northern parula as they are starting to become very uncommon. This bird was nice and plump, so I bet he'll be leaving tonight if not have already left!
Here are the 3 great birds I took pictures of today. I know every bird is great but I can't show off all 61 birds we caught today.

Little Bear:
Vince and I headed out to Little Bear this morning thinking it would be the last day of banding there this season. With a little cold front having moved through last night, we were optimistic that it might be a busier day compared to how last week went. The Yellow-rumped Warblers, and a handful of other species, came through for us, and we were fairly busy for the first few net runs. Eventually the wind picked up and we had to start shutting down early, but we also decided to give Little Bear one more day. It shouldn't be as windy tomorrow, and I think it will be a great morning to close out Little Bear's 2020 season on a high note. We haven't captured any new species for the station since the Ash-throated Flycatcher 2 weeks ago, and I'm hoping for one more surprise to end up in our nets.
Yesterday, we banded a new Hermit Thrush and today it ended up back in a net again. I figured that meant it wanted to its picture taken for the blog, and it turned out to a pretty good model- check out that nice reddish tail!
