Captain Sam's:
With a winding down migration and warm southern fall temperatures the station was not really that busy. Our total birds was pretty low with the occasional burst of four or so Yellow-rumped Warblers. Day's were we aren't quite so busy make for good days to be present and observe/listen to nature (that being said it can be hard to with the constant construction). For example, we all noticed while opening that the ocean seemed much much louder than typically. The tide was higher than it has been so I'm sure that was part of it, even still it seemed louder than a normal high tide.
Hoping the new cold front brings some of the few remaining species that could be expected for the season (and hopefully some really eager winter finches). Brown Creeper, Winter Wren, and American Robin are ones in particular I'd like for us to see at the station.
The tide is awake,
Waves heard well over the dunes,
Sea oats idling

Little Bear:
Today was an extremely slow day. With the humidity being, what felt like an all time high, it was quite a warmer day as well. We decided to check out the tidal pool out at the end of Little Bear. We set up a net and chased in a few birds but only captured 1 Saltmarsh Sparrow out of it all. We did get a close call on a Pipit and some shorebirds but it was fun to try it out. The winds were at a stand still and it was nice to give it our best shot. We ended today without breaking the 10 bird count. Our total was 9 birds. It was very quiet but very relaxing as well. I'm hoping to see some cooler weather soon, maybe we might get a little bit of a movement going soon.
