CAPTAIN SAMS
It was a relatively slow day over at Captain Sam's, and like Little Bear, we spent a lot of time doing net repair. Though it was slower today than yesterday, it was still a solid day with 43 birds banded and 16 recaptured, with birds from 14 species. Some highlights for me included a Lincoln's Sparrow and a Blue-headed Vireo. I haven't had many of either species in the hand, so it feels very special to have them both in one day! They are so beautiful! We also had a couple of gorgeous adult White-throated Sparrows and Yellow-rumped Warblers.

LITTLE BEAR
It was a slow and short day at Little Bear with 12 banded birds and 16 recaptures, 17 of which were Gray Catbirds. Unfortunately our day was cut short after just three hours when a group of three deer took a romp through the station, putting massive holes in 9 of our 28 nets. The crew will still be banding the next few days but will have to get creative with our net repair methods and use of our limited nets.
