Although we didn't get caught in the rain like the Little Bear crew, we did have to wait out some off-shore storms in the work truck this morning and opened up our nets a bit later than usual. With 90% humidity and quickly rising temperatures, we also had to close nets earlier than we would have liked. In total we had 5 new birds and 5 recaptures, for a total of 6 species. I got to band my first Black-throated Blue Warbler from Kiawah today, a very relaxed hatch-year female. Although I got to band Black-throated Blues up in Nova Scotia, I never get tired of seeing these guys in the hand. The females may not be as stunning in coloration as the males, but they still have that tell-tale white "hankerchief" in their wing, which make them easily distinguishable from other warbler species.

Little Bear
We received some nice rainstorms this morning, which delayed our start quite a bit. The storms were followed by a beautiful double rainbow. We only caught 4 new birds of 2 species and then had to close due to the heat. We had two adult female American Redstarts, which we all agree never get old.
